PermaRoof UK Adds Eco-Friendly Polyiso Board to Product Portfolio

LEADING roof supplier PermaRoofUK has added ISOGARD™ HD to its growing portfolio of building products – making the innovative and environmentally-friendly polyiso board more widely available to the UK market.

ISOGARD™ HD – a 12.7mm thick polyiso board that has been designed for use as a cover board – launched in the US in 2017 and until now, had been sold in the UK on a low key, project-by-project basis.

PermaRoofUK, one of the largest importers and distributors of RubberCover EPDM, has already sold more than 3,000m2 of the product on a very low-key pilot scheme – showing a high demand for the insulation material in the UK.

Manufactured with a 100% fibreglass, mould, and moisture-resistant facer, the high-performing product – which adds structural strength to an entire roofing system and helps to absorb the effects of hail, foot traffic and other potentially damaging impacts – works to minimise energy use and reduce waste, helping to ensure a healthy environment for current and future generations.

It is also easy to cut and handle for quick installation around roofing details such as drains or other penetrations, reducing installation time and labour costs.

Adrian Buttress, managing director at Permaroof, which is part of the PermaGroup umbrella of brands, said: “When foot traffic on a roof is heavy, mineral wood boards run the risk of being crushed or, in the case of plastic foam insulations, the adhesion of the facer to the foam can be affected. The ISOGARD™ HD cover board spreads the load and protects the boards underneath.

“From a life-cycle cost perspective, it often pays off to protect the insulation boards with ISOGARD™ HD. It combines impact resistance and ease of installation in a single, durable product, and is an excellent choice for refurbishment projects or when used as a recovery board over an existing roofing system.”

High density closed cell polyiso foam core

ISOGARD™ HD is a high-density, closed cell polyiso foam core that has been manufactured with a coated fibreglass facer. It can be applied over existing and new roof surfaces and under adhered or mechanically attached to single-ply roofing membranes. It has outstanding performance qualities, including the highest thermal performance of any 12mm rigid cover board and is resistant to extreme weather conditions. ISOGARD™ HD can also enhance the fire performance of a roofing system.

ISOGARD™ HD – which is manufactured in an ISO 9001-registered facility – contains more than nine per cent of post-consumer and post-industrial recycled combined content. The foam technology does not contribute to the depletion of the ozone layer and uses a HCFC-free blowing agent with a global warming potential (GWP) of less than five.

“We are only just officially launching ISOGARD™ HD and it is still yet to arrive from the US to our warehouse but already, we have sold more than 3,000m2 of the product, so there’s no doubting there’s a need for it here in the UK.”
