PermaRoof Commercial Supplies Four Emergency NHS Projects

DERBYSHIRE-BASED PermaRoof UK, the UK’s leading importer and distributor of RubberGard roofing products, has adapted its offering to work closely with modular companies for the first time, supplying fast flat roofing solutions to four emergency NHS projects in the first month of lockdown.

Many emergency modular units have been fast tracked throughout April in response to the dramatic surge in Covid-19 admissions and the requirement for additional isolation areas and specialist wards to keep infection rates as low as possible.

PermaRoofUK was approached to supply its RubberGard EPDM roofing system to four different modular projects – including Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guilford, Bristol Royal Infirmary and Chesterfield Royal.

Adrian Buttress, managing director at Permaroof, said: “I feel incredibly proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish while running a skeleton team of six throughout the pandemic. Each project we’ve supplied is of the upmost importance at this crucial time in the crisis and there has been a real sense of community with each company we’ve worked with over recent weeks.

“We have only recently started to work on larger commercial projects, so this was a test of the systems, processes and services that we’ve been putting in place over the past year. As a small, independently-run business with nationwide coverage, we’ve tried to see the coronavirus outbreak as an opportunity to support our customers in a different way and to further prove ourselves in the commercial sector. We’ve certainly accomplished this on these four projects.”

One of the projects, Royal Surrey County Hospital, is being delivered by Elite Systems GB. The modular construction company was commissioned to construct a 20-bed building by the end of June, which will be made up of 24 individual modules containing space for individual isolation beds.

Marcus Sutcliffe, MD of Elite Systems GB, said: “The relationship we have with Permaroof has been a few years in the making; so when we were commissioned to complete this project with such a tight turnaround, we immediately approached the team to supply us with the roofing materials required. As always, we received a speedy and efficient service and are on track to deliver the first module to site in three weeks’ time.”

Any purchases made online or over the phone are managed by teams working at home, with a limited team in the warehouse who put these orders together for delivery or prearranged collection while exercising social distancing and following NHS advice.
